William Marass


Chief Bill Marass has served with the Rochester Police Department since August 1981. After graduation from High School (Missouri Military Academy), he entered the United States Marine Corps where he received an Honorable Discharge after a four year tour as a Marine Security Guard (Embassy Marine). Upon discharge he received an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Lincoln Land Community College. While continuing his education, Bill earned a Bachelors Degree in LEA from Western Illinois University. He also attained placement on the National Deans List at WIU. Bill joined the Rochester Police Department in 1981, he was promoted to Corporal in 1988, then to Sergeant in 1989. Bill was appointed Chief of Police in February of 1997. He is a state certified Radar Instructor, Pressure Point Control Instructor, Breath Alcohol Operator, Fitness Instructor, Juvenile Officer, SWAT/CQB certified, and a Range Instructor. Bill is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and a graduate of the Executive Management Program conducted by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
